Psí vojáci (The Dog Soldiers)
Prague band, founded towards the end of the 70‘s. Since the very beginning the band have been dominated by the composer, pianist and singer Filip Topol, accompanied by David Skála (ds) and Jan Hazuka (bgt). From time to time they use various instrumentalists as guests. The band grew up in the musical underground, their music is uncombed, wild, unbridled. At the beginning the lyrics were written by Filip‘s elder brother Jáchym. When he later started to use his lyrics in Národní třída, Psí vojáci set Red-Indian poetry to music, poems of Sylvia Plath and lyrics of Filip himself at last.
The tripple CD presents three oldest programmes of Psí vojáci. The dark and mystical Psi a vojáci (Dogs and Soldiers), the dreary and unbalanced Baroko v Čechách (Baroque in Bohemia) - both with lyrics of Jáchym Topol) - and the record from 1985 presenting the band with the new repertoire and with the above mentioned new lyrics.
Nechoď sama do tmy (Don’t Go into Dark Alone) includes the stuff played by the band in the half of the 80‘s. It was one of the climaxes of the band and the record proves it.
Mučivé vzpomínky (Torturing Memories) follow the previous record. Psí vojáci played this repertoire in the second half of the 80‘s, when they were already a famous band. The album includes hits as Psychokiller, Žiletky (Razor Blades) or Šeptáme si na rohu (We Wisper to Each Other at the Corner). The Archives Edition, Czech lyrics. Only CD.
